Background And Objectives: In this study, we describe our first experiences with the new method of transvesical suprapubic externalization of ureteral stents. This method is assessed in patients with incurable ureteral obstruction and concomitant bladder dysfunction, and is classified according to the Idea, Development, Exploration, Assessment, Long-Term Study (IDEAL) recommendations.

Patients And Methods: From 2009 to 2015, transvesical suprapubic externalization of ureteral stents was applied in 14 (8 males, 6 females) patients with incurable ureteral obstruction of malignant (n = 9, 64%) or benign (n = 5; 36%) etiology.

Objectives: To describe our experiences with nephrocutaneous bypass and to assess the role of this procedure as a mean of urinary diversion in patients with incurable ureteral obstruction who are not appropriate candidates for subcutaneous pyelovesical bypass.

Methods: Nephrocutaneous bypass was performed on 15 (12 male, 3 female) patients with incurable ureteral obstruction of malignant (n = 13; 87%) or benign (n = 2; 13%) etiology. Only patients with a significant disturbance of the bladder/sphincter-system were eligible for the procedure.

The long-term-results of 442 patients with nephrectomy because of hypernephroma are analysed with regard to preoperative findings, surgical technique and postoperative therapy. Until 1971 conventional nephrectomy was performed, since then a modification with a long incision carried medially and "blind" manual preparation of the renal pedicle has been performed. This led to better long-term-results.
