Importance: Among older adults with ischemic heart disease, participation in traditional ambulatory cardiac rehabilitation (CR) remains low. While mobile health CR (mHealth-CR) provides a novel opportunity to deliver care, age-specific impairments to technology use may limit uptake, and efficacy data are currently lacking.

Objective: To test whether mHealth-CR improves functional capacity in older adults.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the effectiveness of radiolabeled-PSMA PET/CT for initial staging of intermediate-risk prostate cancer patients.
  • The analysis included 181 patients and found that PSMA PET/CT successfully detected primary lesions and showed a positive rate for nodes and distant organs, demonstrating high diagnostic accuracy.
  • The findings suggest that incorporating PSMA PET/CT in patient management can change treatment strategies in about 13% of cases, especially for those with unfavorable disease.

Introduction: Poly-ADP-ribose-polymerase inhibitors (PARPi), which exploit the processes of so-called 'synthetic lethality,' have been successfully implemented in oncological practice. However, not all patients respond to PARPi, and there is an unmet need for noninvasive biomarkers suitable for patient selection and monitoring during PARPi therapy.

Areas Covered: The first clinical applications of molecular imaging with positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) with [18F]-FluorThanatrace ([18F]-FTT) and [18F]-PARPi, highly effective PARP-ligands, in patients with several malignancies (head and neck, ovarian, prostate, and breast cancer) are covered, with a particular focus on its potential for pre-treatment selection and follow-up.

Article Synopsis
  • The TAILOR-PCI Digital Study aimed to improve the detection of cardiovascular (CV) hospitalizations through a smartphone app that used geofencing and monthly surveys, building on the original TAILOR-PCI trial.
  • The study compared the effectiveness of these digital tools against traditional methods like phone calls and health record reviews by site coordinators.
  • Of 85 participants, the monthly surveys successfully identified 88.9% of CV hospitalizations, while geofencing detected only 33.3%, indicating that the digital approach may be more effective than geofencing alone.

Background: Women with myocardial infarction (MI) are more likely to have elevated stress levels and depression than men with MI.

Objectives: We investigated psychosocial factors in women with myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) and those with MI and obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).

Methods: Women with MI enrolled in a multicenter study and completed measures of perceived stress (Perceived Stress Scale-4) and depressive symptoms (Patient Health Questionnaire-2) at the time of MI (baseline) and 2 months later.
