In tribologically loaded materials, folding instabilities and vortices lead to the formation of complex internal structures. This is true for geological as well as nanoscopic contacts. Classically, these structures have been described by Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities or shear localization.

[Long term electrocardiography (Holter monitoring)].

During the past almost 50 years Holter monitoring has become an established non-invasive diagnostic tool in clinical electrophysiology. It allows ECG recording independent of stationary monitoring facilities during daily life and, therefore, contains much information. In the beginning the main interest was directed towards quantitative and qualitative assessment of arrhythmias, their circadian behaviour, and the circadian behaviour of the heart rate.

New oxadiazole derivatives showing partly antiplatelet, antithrombotic and serotonin antagonistic properties.

Ten new 1, 2, 4-oxadiazole- and six new 1, 3, 4-oxadiazole-carboxamides containing different lipophilic moieties (i.e. 4-biphenyl-, 1-naphthyl, phenylpropyl- and n-hexyl substituents) and additional basic groups which are mainly alkyl- and dialkylaminoalkyl residues have been synthesized and tested for antiplatelet effects in vitro (Born-test) and antithrombotic properties in vivo (laser thrombosis model).
