Article Synopsis
  • Recent studies highlight inflammation as a key factor in intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) and osteoarthritis (OA), prompting this research to explore the effects of the anti-inflammatory drug oseltamivir on IVD and cartilage cells.
  • The study involved isolating human lumbar IVD and cartilage tissues to assess cell viability and changes in important proteins (HIF-1α, IL-1β, NF-κB, and NLRP3 inflammasome) after oseltamivir treatment.
  • Results showed that oseltamivir reduced cell proliferation and significantly altered protein expressions linked to inflammation and cellular health, suggesting its potential as a regenerative treatment for IVDD and OA.
