This review article summarizes the findings from the first virtual International End-of-Life Doula Symposium, held over 3 days on 25-27 April 2022. More than 40 people attended from seven countries, predominantly from Australia, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, and they were primarily experienced practitioners. In this article, we focus on participants' topics of conversations and experiences that were relevant across international boundaries, organized through the symposium themes of developments, disruptions, dilemmas and directions.

Biodegradable polymers are desirable to mitigate the environmental impact of plastic waste in the environment. Over the past several decades, the development of organocatalytic ring-opening polymerization (OROP) has made the synthesis of many new types of biodegradable polymers possible. In this research article, the first example of an oxygen atom transfer reagent pendant on a biodegradable polymer backbone is reported.

Furunculosis caused by Aeromonas salmonicida subsp salmonicida (Ass) is a medically and economically important bacterial disease in salmonid farms that requires therapeutic measures to prevent and control the disease. Evaluation of the effectiveness of traditional measures such as antibiotics or vaccines usually requires infecting fish experimentally. The objective of this study is to develop a method of infectious challenge of large (250-g) Rainbow trout by immersion close to natural infection conditions.

Aims: Study the relationship between antibiotic resistance patterns of Pseudomonas isolated from farmed rainbow trout fillets and farm or transformation process locations.

Methods And Results: Pseudomonas strains were isolated from rainbow trout sampled in two differently located farms and filleted in laboratory or in a processing factory. One hundred and twenty-five isolates were confirmed as belonging to Pseudomonas using CFC selective media, Gram staining, oxidase test and quantitative polymerase chain reaction methods.

The oxidation of an acetonitrile ligand coordinated to ruthenium is explored in deuterated dimethylsulfoxide by H NMR spectroscopy. When oxidized with an iodosoarene oxygen atom transfer (OAT) reagent, kinetic studies demonstrate that the nitrile ligand does not dissociate before reacting. Instead, OAT to the central nitrile carbon is implicated (nitrile oxidation), and is further supported by the product of the reaction, -acyl-dimethylsulfoximine.
