Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects 10-15% globally and is a marked independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Prevalence estimations are essential for public health planning and implementation of CKD treatment strategies. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence and stages of CKD in the population-based Lolland-Falster Health Study, set in a rural provincial area with the lowest socioeconomic status in Denmark.

DNA breathing dynamics-transient base-pair opening and closing due to thermal fluctuations-are vital for processes like transcription, replication, and repair. Traditional models, such as the Extended Peyrard-Bishop-Dauxois (EPBD), provide insights into these dynamics but are computationally limited for long sequences. We present , a high-throughput Langevin molecular dynamics framework leveraging JAX for GPU-accelerated simulations, achieving up to 30x speedup and superior scalability compared to the original C-based EPBD implementation.

In 2018 the European Commission adopted revisions to the Annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) to introduce nanomaterial-specific clarifications and provisions. Multicomponent nanomaterial (MCNM) is a non-regulatory term that has been used in recent EU-funded projects to describe nanomaterials with a complex structure and/or composition and which are expected to be increasingly used in products in the near future. This paper examines the regulatory preparedness of REACH, and its revised Annexes, for MCNMs.

Objectives: Concussion is a common injury in rugby union ('rugby') and yet its diagnosis is reliant on clinical judgment. Oculomotor testing could provide an objective measure to assist with concussion diagnosis. NeuroFlex® evaluates oculomotor function using a virtual-reality headset.

The link between DNA methylation and neurodevelopmental disorders is well established. However, how DNA methylation is fine-tuned-ensuring precise gene expression and developmental fidelity-remains poorly understood. PROSER1, a known TET2 interactor, was recently linked to a severe neurodevelopmental disorder.
