Palm kernel meal (PKM) presents a challenge for non-ruminant livestock feeding due to its high fibre content predominantly in the form of mannan. Microbial fermentation offers a sustainable solution for fibre hydrolysis in lignocellulosic biomass. In this study, a Bacillus subtilis strain (F6), with high mannanase secretion capability, was isolated from the environment.

Third-degree burns result in extensive damage to the skin's epidermal and dermal layers, with limited treatment options available. Currently, xenogeneic collagen-based skin grafts are used as scaffolds to integrate into the wound bed and provide a template for neodermis formation. Existing commercial products like Integra dermal templates rely on a time-consuming and variable dehydrothermal (DHT) crosslinking process.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated how swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) evolve in stroke patients by examining the relationship between muscle strength and swallowing outcomes over six months.
  • Researchers tracked various data points, including diet level and swallowing quality, through multiple assessments after participants suffered their first stroke.
  • Findings revealed that while muscle strength improved in the first month, swallowing precision was critical for overall quality of life and function at six months, suggesting a need for early diagnosis in at-risk patients.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is an aggressive malignancy and the most common form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that occurs worldwide. To discover risk factors and pathogenesis of DLBCL, we performed the largest GWAS of DLBCL to date in samples of East Asian ancestry, consisting of 2,888 patients with DLBCL and 12,458 controls. The meta-analysis identified three novel loci, rs2233434 on 6p21.
