Risk factors for postoperative facial swelling at 1 week after bimaxillary orthognathic surgery in Class III patients.

Objective: To quantify facial swelling at 1 week after Le Fort I osteotomy and bilateral sagittal splitting ramus osteotomy in Class III patients and to identify factors contributing to the swelling based on clinical, morphologic, and surgical variables.

Study Design: Data from 63 patients were examined in this single-center, retrospective study. Facial swelling was quantitatively measured by superimposing computed tomography data taken in the supine position at 1 week and 1 year postoperatively and extracting the area of maximum intersurface distance.

Oral Health Interventions in Natural Disasters: A Scoping Review.

Objectives: This work aimed to identify, appraise, and summarize existing knowledge about oral health interventions in the context of natural disasters and verify the main research gaps.

Methods: We searched in PubMed (National Library of Medicine, Maryland, USA), EMBASE (Elsevier, Amsterdam, Netherlands) and Epistemonikos (Epistemonikos Foundation, Santiago, Chile) until 2021 for primary studies and systematic reviews, assessing any oral health intervention in the context of natural disasters. The interventions were classified according to Cochrane Effective Practice and Organization of Care (EPOC) categories, and the type of natural disaster was defined according to the classification by the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED).

Study of Morphological Changes in the Inferior Turbinate After Le Fort I Osteotomy.

Objective: There are cases in which patients complain of nasal obstruction after Le Fort I osteotomy, but the relationship with postoperative morphological changes in the nasal cavity, including the septum and inferior turbinate, is not clear.

Study Design: The authors evaluated the three-dimensional relationship of the morphological changes in the inferior turbinate before and after surgery in 84 patients who underwent Le Fort I osteotomy. Three classifications were made according to superior amount of maxillary movement at the base of nasal cavity.

A Novel Clock Parameterization and Its Implications for Precise Point Positioning and Ionosphere Estimation.

By convention, IGS precise clock products are computed using the ionosphere-free linear combination. Due to the broad use of IGS products, this convention is exploited in PPP-RTK models not using such a linear combination. So, in different carrier phase combinations, the code hardware biases are contained in different combinations, thus making the problem of separating biases from integer ambiguities more complicated.

A study of unfavorable splits in the sagittal ramus osteotomy with a short lingual cut.

In the bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, a short lingual cut is made on the medial side of the ramus; however, in some cases, a true fracture occurs on the buccal side of the ramus. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the splitting pattern of the mandible and the form of the mandible, the surgical technique used, and the postoperative occurrence of relapse after 'unfavorable' splits. The investigation examined 143 patients in whom a short lingual cut was attempted.
