In this research, we employed density functional theory (DFT) to evaluate the sensing capabilities of transition metal-decorated two-dimensional WTe TMDs nanosheets toward VOCs such as (acetone, ethanol, methanol, toluene, and formaldehyde) that are exhaled in human breath and can serve as potential biomarkers for detecting specific physiological disorders and also gases interfering in exhaled breath (CO and HO) detection. Au can be physically decorated onto the surface of WTe. We analyzed the density of states (DOS), adsorption energy, charge transfer, and sensing behavior.

Background: It is vital to understand healthy gut microbiota composition throughout early life stages when environments are changing, and immunity is developing. There are limited large-scale longitudinal studies classifying healthy succession of swine microbiota. The objectives of this study were to (a) determine the microbiota composition of fecal samples collected from piglets within a few days after birth until one-week post-weaning, and (b) investigate the associations of early fecal microbiota with pig growth performance in nursery and later growing stages.

Fish allergy is one of the "big nine" categories of food allergens worldwide, and its prevalence is increasing with the higher demand for this nutritious food source. Fish allergies are a significant health concern as it is a leading cause of food anaphylaxis, accounting for 9% of all deaths from anaphylaxis. The gaps in treating fish allergies at present are the incomplete identification of fish allergens, lack of component-resolved diagnosis of fish allergens in the clinical setting, and the variability in sensitization profiles based on different fish consumption practices.
