Clinical Anatomy of the Ligaments of the Face and Their Fundamental Distinguishing Features.

Our study aimed to clarify the anatomical features of the zygomatic, upper masseteric, lower masseteric and mandibular ligaments and their possible contribution to age-related gravitational ptosis. The study was carried out by the method of layered dissection of fresh cadavers. In several observations, the zygomatic ligament is represented by the fibers originating from the zygomaticus major muscle fibers.

This study addresses the cervical part of the vertebral column. Clinical pictures of dystrophic diseases of the cervical part of the vertebral column do not always correspond only to the morphological changes-they may be represented by connective tissue formation and nerve and vessel compression. To find out the possible reason, this morphometric study of the cervical part of the vertebral column in 40 cadavers was performed.

Surgical Treatment in Patients with Toxic Phosphorus Osteonecrosis of Facial Skull Middle Zone.

During the last few years, in the territory of the Russian Federation, the number of cases of toxic phosphoric osteonecrosis of the jaws has increased against the background of taking drugs of "artisanal" production (pervitin, desomorphin). The aim of our study was to increase the effectiveness of surgical treatment of patients with a diagnosis of toxic phosphorus necrosis of the maxilla. We performed a comprehensive treatment of patients with a history of drug addiction and the above diagnosis.

[Dissection technique for organs of the neck in hanging].

The aim of this study is to develop a comprehensive dissection technique to examine the deep structures of the neck in hanging, including extraction of the cervical spine and investigation of the removed segment with access to vertebral arteries and spinal cord. Its advantages include the unnecessity of any special instruments usage, the short period of time, which is necessary for performing dissection techniques, as well as the possible detailed examination of the spine, spinal cord and vertebral arteries. The improved dissection technique simplifies the diagnosis of injuries and increases the objectivity of the forensic medical examination in hanging.

Novel Hydroxypyridine Compound Protects Brain Cells against Ischemic Damage In Vitro and In Vivo.

A non-surgical pharmacological approach to control cellular vitality and functionality during ischemic and/or reperfusion-induced phases of strokes remains extremely important. The synthesis of 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridinium gammalactone-2,3-dehydro-L-gulonate (3-EA) was performed using a topochemical reaction. The cell-protective effects of 3-EA were studied on a model of glutamate excitotoxicity (GluTox) and glucose-oxygen deprivation (OGD) in a culture of NMRI mice cortical cells.
