Integrated photonics cascaded attenuation circuit towards single-photon detector calibration.

Integrated photonics platforms are a key driver for advancing scalable photonics technologies. To rigorously characterize and calibrate on-chip integrated photodetectors for ultra-sensitive applications such as quantum sensing and photonic computing, a low-power calibration source down to single-photon levels is required. To date, such sources still largely rely on off-chip bulk or fiber optic setups to accurately attenuate a laser beam referenced to a sub-mW-level primary standard.

Prediction of Liver Enzyme Elevation Using Supervised Machine Learning in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis on Treatment with Methotrexate.

Objective The aim of this study is to develop a machine learning (ML) model to accurately predict liver enzyme elevation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients on treatment with methotrexate (MTX) using electronic health record (EHR) data from a real-world RA cohort. Methods Demographic, clinical, biochemical, and prescription information from 569 RA patients initiated on MTX were collected retrospectively. The primary outcome was the liver transaminase elevation above the upper limit of normal (40 IU/mL), following the initiation of MTX.

Irreducible Hernia With Unusual Content.

Chronic increase in the intravesical pressure secondary to bladder outlet obstruction can lead to the formation of bladder diverticulum. Bladder diverticulum may get pulled into the hernial sac and may become a component of the hernia. Here, we report the case of an elderly male who had an unusual presentation of urinary bladder diverticulum as the content in an obstructed inguinal hernia.

Developing consensus of evidence to target case finding surveys for podoconiosis: a potentially forgotten disease in India.

Background: Podoconiosis is a non-infectious geochemical lymphoedema of the lower legs associated with a significant burden of morbidity. There are historical reports of podoconiosis in India, but its current endemicity status is uncertain. In this investigation we aimed to prioritise the selection of districts for pilot mapping of podoconiosis in India.

Prevalence of Neglected Tropical Diseases (Leishmaniasis and Lymphatic Filariasis) and Malaria Among a Migrant Labour Settlement in Kerala, India.

Neglected tropical diseases (visceral leismaniasis, lymphatic filariasis) and malaria are endemic in northern states of India. Kerala has become a hub of construction activities employing a large number of migrants from these endemic states. Studies on morbidity pattern among migrants in Kerala are lacking.
