Computer numerical control (CNC) carving as an on-demand point-of-care manufacturing of solid dosage form: A digital alternative method for 3D printing.

Computer numerical control (CNC) carving is a widely used method of industrial subtractive manufacturing of wood, plastics, and metal products. However, there have been no previous reports of applying this approach to manufacture medicines. In this work, the novel method of tablet production using CNC carving is introduced for the first time.

[Influence of the removable partial denture acrylic resin on oral health and quality of life].

Material And Methods: This prospective cohort interventional randomized study on 376 patients enrolled and divided into two groups (with and without denture prosthesis) was performed in University Clinics of Kinshasa, Kinshasa Medical Center and Clinic Glory during the period August 2008 to August 2010.

Usefulness of PRESTO magnetic resonance imaging for the differentiation of schwannoma and meningioma in the cerebellopontine angle.

The principles of echo-shifting with a train of observations (PRESTO) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging technique employs an MR sequence that sensitively detects susceptibility changes in the brain. The effectiveness of PRESTO MR imaging was examined for distinguishing between cerebellopontine angle (CPA) schwannomas and meningiomas in 24 patients with CPA tumors, 12 with vestibular schwannomas, and 12 with meningiomas. Histopathological study of surgical specimens showed that 11 of the 12 schwannomas contained hemosiderin deposits and all had microhemorrhages.

[Periodontal status and diabetes: evaluation of 80 patients with diabetes mellitus in Conakry Teaching Hospital].

Introduction: Dental and periodontal diseases are frequent in diabetics. Few studies were carried out on oral pathologies of the diabetics in Africa. The objective of this study was to assess periodontal conditions in a population of diabetics followed in a hospital environment by comparing them with non diabetics.

Amyloidoma in the gasserian ganglion: case report.

Background: Amyloidoma in the central nervous system is extremely rare. We describe a rare case of amyloidoma in the gasserian ganglion manifesting as trigeminal neuropathy.

Methods: A 41-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with progressive numbness and hypalgesia in the distribution of the second and third divisions of the left trigeminal nerve.
