Traditional birth attendants' roles and homebirth choices in Ethiopia: A qualitative study.

Background: In Ethiopia, it is encouraged that labour and delivery care are performed under the observation of skilled/trained midwifery or medical professionals. However, 70% of all births occur outside the healthcare system under the care of unskilled birth attendants, family members, or without any assistance at all.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the reasons for choosing homebirth and the role of traditional birth attendants in Arba Minch Health and Demographic Surveillance Site.

Liver Abscess Due to Dropped Appendicolith after Laparoscopic Appendectomy.

The lifetime risk of appendicitis is 6 to 7 % [1]. When appendicitis is clinically suspected, an appendicolith can be found in 30% of the patients [2]. An appendicolith may be retained post-operatively ('dropped appendicolith') due to previous perforation, non-recognition during surgery or the impossibility to remove it.

Aims: Investigate the role of expansile versus infiltrative type of primary invasive intestinal type mucinous epithelial ovarian carcinoma (mEOC) in predicting recurrence and lymph node metastases.

Methods: Retrospective study. Differentiation was defined according to the Shimizu-Silverberg and expansile/infiltrative type according to the Lee-Scully criteria.
