[Rehabilitation therapy for aquaporin-4 antibody positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders].

Forty-five cases with aquaporin-4 antibody-positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) who underwent convalescent rehabilitation were studied. After excluding three cases with recurrence during rehabilitation treatment, the Expanded Disability Status Scale of Kurtzke improved a median of 1 point. Corticosteroids were the most used disease-modifying drugs (DMDs).

Recapitulation and investigation of human brain development with neural organoids.

Organoids are 3D cultured tissues derived from stem cells that resemble the structure of living organs. Based on the accumulated knowledge of neural development, neural organoids that recapitulate neural tissue have been created by inducing self-organized neural differentiation of stem cells. Neural organoid techniques have been applied to human pluripotent stem cells to differentiate 3D human neural tissues in culture.

In Vivo Synthetic Anticancer Approach by Resourcing Mouse Blood Albumin as a Biocompatible Artificial Metalloenzyme.

Methods for producing drugs directly at the cancer site, particularly using bioorthogonal metal catalysts, are being explored to mitigate the side effects of therapy. Albumin-based artificial metalloenzymes (ArMs) catalyze reactions in living mice while protecting the catalyst in the hydrophobic pocket. Here, we describe the in situ preparation and application of biocompatible tumor-targeting ArMs using circulating albumin, which is abundant in the bloodstream.

Inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs) are progressive diseases leading to vision loss. Mutation in the eyes shut homolog (EYS) gene is one of the most frequent causes of IRD. However, the mechanism of photoreceptor cell degeneration by mutant EYS has not been fully elucidated.
