Concept of the Munich/Augsburg Consortium Precision in Mental Health for the German Center of Mental Health.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) issued a call for a new nationwide research network on mental disorders, the German Center of Mental Health (DZPG). The Munich/Augsburg consortium was selected to participate as one of six partner sites with its concept "Precision in Mental Health (PriMe): Understanding, predicting, and preventing chronicity." PriMe bundles interdisciplinary research from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU), Technical University of Munich (TUM), University of Augsburg (UniA), Helmholtz Center Munich (HMGU), and Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry (MPIP) and has a focus on schizophrenia (SZ), bipolar disorder (BPD), and major depressive disorder (MDD).

Kinetics of Physiological Responses as a Measure of Intensity and Hydration Status During Experimental Physical Stress in Human Volunteers.

Introduction: Strenuous physical stress induces a range of physiological responses, the extent depending, among others, on the nature and severity of the exercise, a person's training level and overall physical resilience. This principle can also be used in an experimental set-up by measuring time-dependent changes in biomarkers for physiological processes. In a previous report, we described the effects of workload delivered on a bicycle ergometer on intestinal functionality.

Plasma citrulline concentration, a marker for intestinal functionality, reflects exercise intensity in healthy young men.

Background & Aims: Plasma citrulline concentration is considered to be a marker for enterocyte metabolic mass and to reflect its reduction as may occur during intestinal dysfunction. Strenuous exercise can act as a stressor to induce small intestinal injury. Our previous studies suggest that this comprises the intestinal ability to produce citrulline from a glutamine-rich protein bolus.

[High prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in the south-west Netherlands].

Objective: To determine how often vitamin D deficiency occurs in the populations of a city, the countryside and urbanised areas of the countryside, and also the influence of the seasons.

Design: Cross-sectional study carried out in the winter and summer of 2013. Trend analysis from requests for determination of vitamin D levels by general practitioners between January 2010 and August 2012.
