Zinc is an essential trace element that is crucial for numerous biological processes, including protein synthesis, antioxidant activity, and bone calcification. Preterm infants are at high risk of zinc deficiency owing to inadequate zinc stores at birth and the rapid decline in zinc concentration in breast milk. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between zinc concentrations in breast milk and zinc supplementation in preterm infants.

We present the first reported case of an isolated small-bowel intestinal juvenile polyp in an adult. This case is particularly noteworthy as it was asymptomatic, detected via computed tomography, localized by capsule endoscopy, and successfully resected via double-balloon endoscopy before the development of acute symptoms.

Background: Although the specific pathogenesis of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) remains unknown, vascular impairment is one of the leading causes of ISSNHL. Establishing diagnostic criteria for ISSNHL due to vascular impairment is essential. We hypothesized that isolated posterior semicircular canal dysfunction (IPSCD) in ISSNHL patients results from infarction of the vestibulo-cochlear artery (VCA).

Karyopherin α1 (KPNA1) / (human importin α5; mouse importin α1) facilitates cargo transport into the nucleus by forming a complex with a nuclear localization sequence containing cargo and importin β1 (IPOB1). The elevated KPNA1 expression in neurons and the correlation between mutations and psychiatric disorders suggest its broader significance beyond nucleocytoplasmic transport. Although KPNA1 is localized in the neurites of neurons, its role in axonal transport mechanisms remains unclear, and data on the connection between psychiatric disorders and signaling at the periphery of neurons remain limited.

Introduction: In Japan, bicycles equipped with child seats have become popular in urban areas as a convenient means of transportation for preschool children. As such, it is necessary to conduct more studies and evaluations to prevent crashes and/or mitigate injuries of children in child-carrying bicycles. This study primarily aims to comprehend the kinematic behavior and injury risks to a child seated in a child seat attached to a bicycle when it is struck from the rear by a car.
