Ultra-high dose rate (FLASH) carbon ion irradiation inhibited immune suppressive protein expression on Pan02 cell line.

Recently, ultra-high dose rate (> 40 Gy/s, uHDR; FLASH) radiation therapy (RT) has attracted interest, because the FLASH effect that is, while a cell-killing effect on cancer cells remains, the damage to normal tissue could be spared has been reported. This study aimed to compare the immune-related protein expression on cancer cells after γ-ray, conventionally used dose rate (Conv) carbon ion (C-ion), and uHDR C-ion. B16F10 murine melanoma and Pan02 murine pancreas cancer were irradiated with γ-ray at Osaka University and with C-ion at Osaka HIMAK.

How the Magenstrasse is formed after meals: Protein aggregation hypothesis.

Magenstrasse (stomach road) is reported to potentially influence the absorption of orally administered drugs by facilitating a gastric emptying of ingested water under postprandial condition. We hypothesized the Magenstrasse is a consequence of the formation of protein aggregates due to the decrease in gastric pH associated with stimulated gastric acid secretion. The formation mechanism of the Magenstrasse was examined in vitro using a gastric chamber system which reproduces postprandial conditions in the stomach.

End-of-life care for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a scoping review protocol.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive inflammatory disease that has a typical illness trajectory. Awareness of unique disease courses as well as providing end-of-life care (EOLC) for COPD patients is important as most patients experience varied degrees of suffering toward the end-of-life. The purpose of this scoping review is to map out key concepts, main sources, and types of evidence available in the area of research on EOLC with multiple interventions for people with COPD.

Advance care planning for patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: An evolutionary concept analysis.

Aim: This study aimed to analyze the concept of advance care planning (ACP) for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), by systematically clarifying the attributes, antecedents, consequences, surrogate terms, related concepts, and historical transition of the concept.

Methods: Following Rodgers' method of concept analysis, the academic development of concepts related to ACP for patients with COPD, as well as changes in the concept over time, is comprehensively organized and described. A search formula for relevant literature was created using the two keywords "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease" and "advance care planning".
