As an environmental estrogen biomarker, the yolk precursor, vitellogenin (Vtg) is widely used in the assessment of estrogen pollution in aquatic environment. Currently, the detection of Vtg in plasma is mainly achieved by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method based on Vtg antibodies. However, due to differences in the immunological epitopes of Vtg from various species, Vtg antibodies have low universality.

Traditional poly(ether sulfone) (PES) filters, widely used for sterile, viral, and ultrafiltration, often exhibit restrictions in their selectivity-permeability profile due to their heterogeneous pore size distribution. This limitation has sparked interest in developing novel isoporous membrane materials and fabrication techniques. Among promising candidates, block copolymer (BCP) membranes produced via self-assembly and nonsolvent-induced phase separation (SNIPS) offer significant advantages, including tunable pore size, narrow pore size distribution, high porosity, and enhanced mechanical flexibility.

Despite numerous studies aimed at improving accuracy, the accurate prediction of epileptic seizures remains a challenge in clinical practice due to the high computational cost, poor real-time performance, and over-reliance on labelled data. To address these issues, a real-time seizure prediction method with spatio-temporal information transfer learning (RTSPM-STITL) has been proposed in this study. In the RTSPM-STITL method, the human brain is regarded as a time-varying high-dimensional neurodynamic system, in which epileptic seizures are viewed as state transitions caused by time-varying system parameters.

Rapid and accurate recognition of severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) would facilitate the optimal intervention. Currently, the diagnosis of severe CAP is commonly based on the criteria established by Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA)/American Thoracic Society (ATS), which include 2 primary and 9 secondary criteria, making the process cumbersome and time-consuming. Here, a porous PtCu alloy-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LDI MS) is designed for the extraction of plasma metabolic fingerprints (PMFs), coupling with machine learning for the diagnosis of severe CAP.

Neurodegenerative disease (ND) refers to the progressive loss and morphological abnormalities of neurons in the central nervous system (CNS) or peripheral nervous system (PNS). Examples of neurodegenerative diseases include Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Recent studies have shown that mitochondria play a broad role in cell signaling, immune response, and metabolic regulation.
