Salmonellae remain a prominent issue for poultry products regarding food safety. A predominant source of broiler carcass contamination at processing is from crop rupturing and subsequent contamination of the carcass during evisceration. Chlorhexidine (CHX) salts are commonly used in dental products for their antimicrobial capabilities.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), the leading cause of mortality worldwide, is driven by endothelial cell inflammatory activation and counter-balanced by anti-inflammatory transcription factors Klf2 and Klf4 (Klf2/4). Understanding vascular endothelial inflammation to develop effective treatments is thus essential. Here, we identify, Polycomb Repressive Complex (PRC) 2, which blocks gene transcription by trimethylating histone3 Lysine27 in gene promoter/enhancers, as a potent, therapeutically targetable determinant of vascular inflammation and ASCVD progression.

Background: Māori (the Indigenous people of Aotearoa New Zealand) report higher rates of eating disorders than non-Māori, but access treatment at lower rates. Diagnostic terms lacking in cultural relevance likely contribute to Māori exclusion in eating disorder spaces. Developing terms in te reo Māori (the Māori language) presents an opportunity to challenge eating disorder stereotypes and increase cultural safety in the eating disorder workforce.

The motivating premise of this study is to improve the treatment of periodontal disease by elucidating sex-specific mechanisms of periodontal disease progression. Men and women experience inflammation in fundamentally different ways and understanding the sex-specific biology leading to inflammation and bone loss in the periodontium will inevitably improve patient outcomes. We therefore examined clinical and immunological differences in the progression of periodontal disease using the ligature-induced periodontitis model.

Depression is a stress-associated disorder, and it represents a major global health issue. Its pathophysiology is complex and remains insufficiently understood, with current medications often showing limited efficacy and undesirable side effects. Here, we identify imbalanced polyamine levels and dysregulated autophagy as key components of the acute stress response in humans, and as hallmarks of chronic stress and depressive disorders.
