Using HINTS in acute vestibular syndrome: A practical guide for the acute care physician.

Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is a common clinical presentation. Common causes include peripheral, self-limiting labyrinthine disorders, but a significant proportion are caused by posterior circulation stroke (PoCS). Delineating between a peripheral versus central cause in AVS is challenging for acute care physicians, but a simple, three-step bedside test known collectively as the HINTS examination may be useful.

Cold spray as a powder metallurgy process for production of nickel aluminium bronze.

Nickel aluminium bronze (NAB) alloys are known for their excellent strength and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for maritime and industrial applications. NAB is producible by Powder Metallurgy (PM) but typically requires high compaction pressure. The objective of this study is to investigate the manufacturing of NAB using the cold spray additive manufacturing (AM) process and to compare its properties to those produced by traditional methods such as casting and PM.

Ecological responses of benthic foraminifera to trace element pollution in the Beypore estuary, Southwest coast of India: Implications for coastal anthropogenic contamination.

To investigate the sediment composition, pollution levels, and ecological health of the Beypore estuary in Kerala, Southwest coast of India, a comprehensive analysis was conducted. This area had previously experienced pollution from the Rayon factory, which was closed due to widespread opposition from both the government and the public. The study involved the collection and analysis of 12 shallow sediment samples, focusing on sediment characteristics, trace metal concentrations, and benthic foraminiferal responses.

Unlabelled: The gut microbiota influences systemic immunity and the function of distal tissues, including the brain, liver, skin, lung, and muscle. However, the role of the gut microbiota in the foreign body response (FBR) and fibrosis around medical implants is largely unexplored. To investigate this connection, we perturbed the homeostasis of the murine gut microbiota via enterotoxigenic (ETBF) infection and implanted the synthetic polymer polycaprolactone (PCL) into a distal muscle injury.

Genome-wide profiling of tRNA modifications by Induro-tRNAseq reveals coordinated changes.

While all native tRNAs undergo extensive post-transcriptional modifications as a mechanism to regulate gene expression, mapping these modifications remains challenging. The critical barrier is the difficulty of readthrough of modifications by reverse transcriptases (RTs). Here we use Induro-a new group-II intron-encoded RT-to map and quantify genome-wide tRNA modifications in Induro-tRNAseq.
