Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cause of arrhythmia-induced cardiomyopathy. Effective management strategies include medical therapy for rate and rhythm control, catheter ablation (CA), and goal-directed medical therapy. Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), a novel class of antidiabetic drugs, have shown a promising impact in reducing cardiovascular events in diabetic and nondiabetic heart failure (HF) patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness of macroscopic on-site evaluation (MOSE) during endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration/biopsy (EUS-FNA/FNB) in diagnosing solid lesions, particularly focusing on histological core sample adequacy.
  • Conducted across 16 medical centers in Egypt, Iraq, and Morocco, the study involved over 1000 patients and revealed that a significant majority of biopsied samples were adequate for histological evaluation, demonstrating a high diagnostic yield.
  • Results indicated that FNB needles performed best in terms of sensitivity and sample quality, highlighting the potential of MOSE as a valuable alternative to traditional rapid on-site evaluation methods.

Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) may be administered to stroke patients requiring immediate treatment more quickly than emergency medical services if certain conditions are met. These conditions include the presence of mobile stroke units (MSUs) with on-site treatment teams and a computed tomography scanner. We compared clinical outcomes of MSU conventional therapy by emergency medical services through a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Robotic-assisted surgery is a computer-controlled technique that may improve the accuracy and outcomes of unicompartmental total knee arthroplasty (TKA), a partial knee replacement surgery. The purpose of a meta-analysis about robotic-assisted versus conventional surgery for unicompartmental TKA is to compare the effectiveness of these two methods based on the current evidence. Our meta-analysis can help inform clinical decisions and guidelines for surgeons and patients who are considering unicompartmental TKA as a treatment option.
