Many Holocene estuaries were infilled to form convergent, single-channel systems, while others remained partially or wholly unfilled. This difference in the degree of infilling depends partly on the balance between fluvial and coastal sediment input and the hydrodynamics that can export sediment. However, it remains unclear to what degree this balance is tipped by mud supply and eco-engineering vegetation, and by what planform patterns the infilling proceeds.

MicroRNA-138 Abates Fibroblast Motility With Effect on Invasion of Adjacent Cancer Cells.

Background: Recent studies have shown aberrant expression of micro-RNAs in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). This study aimed to investigate miR-138 dysregulation in CAFs in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and its effects on their phenotype and invasion of adjacent OSCC cells.

Methods: Expression of miR-138 was first investigated in OSCC lesions ( = 53) and OSCC-derived CAFs ( = 15).

This study aimed to investigate the role of miR dysregulation in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). CAF and normal oral fibroblasts (NOFs) were isolated from biopsies of OSCC patients and healthy individuals after informed consent and grown in 3D collagen gels.

Singlet fission is a carrier multiplication mechanism that could make silicon solar cells much more efficient. The singlet-fission process splits one high-energy spin-singlet exciton into two lower-energy spin-triplet excitons.
