Article Synopsis
  • Diabetes is a major global health issue, with sleep disturbances linked to insulin resistance and lipid abnormalities, prompting research to explore how these factors interact in prediabetic and diabetic individuals.
  • A study was conducted involving 45 participants (aged 30-70) to assess relationships between glucose, lipid profiles, sleep quality, and stress levels, using medical records and questionnaires for data collection.
  • Results indicated significant correlations between stress, sleep quality, and lipid profiles in both groups, suggesting that poor sleep and abnormal lipids could be risk factors for developing diabetes and poor glycemic control.

Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis are the primary etiological agents of brucellosis in large and small ruminants, respectively. There are limited comparative genomic studies involving Brucella strains that explore the relatedness among both species. In this study, we involved strains (n=44) representing standard, vaccine and Indian field origin for pangenome, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and phylogenetic analysis.

The prevalence of sickle cell disease in India is very high. Hb F is one of the most powerful modulators of disease severity in sickle cell disease patients. It was traditionally thought that the disease is milder in Indian sickle cell disease patients predominantly due to the Arab-Indian haplotype characterized by the HBG XmnI [rs7482144 (G>A)] variant, which is associated with increased Hb F levels.
