The importance of unconventional T cells for mucosal immunity is firmly established but for systemic bacterial infection remains less well defined. In this study, we explored the role of various T cell subsets in murine Bartonella infection, which establishes persistent bacteremia unless controlled by antibacterial Abs. We found that αβ T cells are essential for Ab production against and clearance of B.

The evolutionary conserved YopJ family comprises numerous type-III-secretion system (T3SS) effectors of diverse mammalian and plant pathogens that acetylate host proteins to dampen immune responses. Acetylation is mediated by a central acetyltransferase domain that is flanked by conserved regulatory sequences, while a nonconserved N-terminal extension encodes the T3SS-specific translocation signal. spp.

Their antibacterial properties are, however, much less well understood. New complexes based on 4-[()-2-(1-pyrenyl)vinyl]pyridine (PyPe) have been synthesized with metal ions that are known to possess antimicrobial properties, such as zinc(II), cadmium(II), and mercury(II).

AMR is promoted by a lack of access to rapid antibiotic susceptibility tests (ASTs). Accelerated ASTs can identify effective antibiotics for treatment in a timely and informed manner.

The hydrogels were prepared by esterification of chitosan (Cs) with monochloroacetic acid to produce CMCs which were then chemically crosslinked to HEC using citric acid as the crosslinking agent. To impart a stimuli responsiveness property to the hydrogels, polydiacetylene-zinc oxide (PDA-ZnO) nanosheets were synthesized in situ during the crosslinking reaction followed by photopolymerization of the resultant composite.
