The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) Swallowing and Nutrition Management Guidelines for Patients with Head and Neck Cancer were developed to enable evidence-based decision-making by the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team (H&N MDT) regarding enteral nutrition support options. The purpose of this study was to revalidate these guidelines in a cohort of patients receiving helical intensity-modulated radiotherapy (H-IMRT) compared to a historical cohort who received primarily 3D-conformal radiotherapy. Eligible patients attending the RBWH H&N MDT between 2013 and 2014 (n = 315) were assessed by the guidelines, with high-risk patients being recommended proactive gastrostomy tube placement.

Prostate cancer disproportionately affects Black men in the United States, leading to higher mortality rates and health disparities. In addition, based on historical mistreatment and discrimination and the resulting distrust of the medical system, Black populations are consistently underrepresented in health care-related research. Addressing these challenges requires community-driven approaches integrating diverse perspectives and fostering equitable health outcomes.

Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is a sudden, severe cardiac ischemic event that results in the death of up to one billion cardiomyocytes (CMs) and subsequent decrease in cardiac function. Engineered cardiac tissues (ECTs) are a promising approach to deliver the necessary mass of CMs to remuscularize the heart. However, the hypoxic environment of the heart post-MI presents a critical challenge for CM engraftment.
