Evaluation of droperidol use in the emergency department: a retrospective analysis of QTc prolongation and adverse events.

Background: Droperidol is a first-generation antipsychotic medication that has been used for various indications in the emergency department (ED); however, its use has been controversial due to reports of QT prolongation and the risk of torsades de pointes (TdP). The aim of the study is to evaluate the safety of droperidol administration in the ED.

Methods: This was a retrospective study, conducted at an academic level I trauma center.

Objective: To demonstrate the potential for a centrally managed health information exchange standardized to a common data model (HIE-CDM) to facilitate semantic data flow needed to support a learning health system (LHS).

Materials And Methods: The Rhode Island Quality Institute operates the Rhode Island (RI) statewide HIE, which aggregates RI health data for more than half of the state's population from 47 data partners. We standardized HIE data to the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) CDM.

Background: Prior studies have found potential disparities in outcomes for patients undergoing total joint arthroplasty (TJA) in academic vs. community and high- vs. low-volume institutions.

Large language models and synthetic health data: progress and prospects.

Objectives: Given substantial obstacles surrounding health data acquisition, high-quality synthetic health data are needed to meet a growing demand for the application of advanced analytics for clinical discovery, prediction, and operational excellence. We highlight how recent advances in large language models (LLMs) present new opportunities for progress, as well as new risks, in synthetic health data generation (SHDG).

Materials And Methods: We synthesized systematic scoping reviews in the SHDG domain, recent LLM methods for SHDG, and papers investigating the capabilities and limits of LLMs.
