Progress Toward Epigenetic Targeted Therapies for Childhood Cancer.

Among the most significant discoveries from cancer genomics efforts has been the critical role of epigenetic dysregulation in cancer development and progression. Studies across diverse cancer types have revealed frequent mutations in genes encoding epigenetic regulators, alterations in DNA methylation and histone modifications, and a dramatic reorganization of chromatin structure. Epigenetic changes are especially relevant to pediatric cancers, which are often characterized by a low rate of genetic mutations.

Enhancing the Integration of Pre-Emptive Pharmacogenetic (PGx) Testing in Primary Care: Prioritizing Underserved Patients' Preferences in Implementation.

: The integration of pharmacogenetic (PGx) testing into primary care has not been widely implemented, despite its benefits for patients and providers. PGx testing could also reduce health disparities as patients with lower healthcare access are prescribed higher proportions of medications with PGx guidelines. Little is known about the preferences of patients who have experienced PGx testing to inform implementation across the care process.

Validation of the Vanderbilt Classroom Listening Assessment Short Survey for Children With Unilateral Hearing Loss.

Objectives: Children with unilateral hearing loss experience difficulties in classroom listening situations. There are a limited number of validated questionnaires available for monitoring listening development and quantifying the challenges school-aged children with unilateral hearing loss experience. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a survey that describes the classroom listening challenges reported by children with unilateral hearing loss with and without the use of personal hearing devices (air conduction hearing aid, bone conduction hearing aid, cochlear implant, contralateral routing of signals system).

Acceptable outcomes of liver transplantation in uninsured patients under the coverage of a state assistance program.

The lack of health insurance is a major barrier to access to health care, even in the case of life-saving procedures such as liver transplantation (LT). Concerns about worse outcomes in uninsured patients have also discouraged the evaluation and transplantation of patients without adequate health insurance coverage. The aim of this study is to evaluate outcomes from the largest cohort of uninsured patients who underwent LT with the support of a state payment assistance program (also called charity care).
