Infections and Patient Satisfaction in WALANT Hand Surgery in a Hospital Procedure Room.

Wide-awake hand surgery has allowed many hand procedures to be moved out of the operating room and into minor procedure rooms while increasing efficiency, maintaining safety, and reducing both patient and hospital costs. The goal of this study was to evaluate patient satisfaction and postoperative complications of wide-awake local anesthesia with no tourniquet procedures performed in a community-based hospital procedure room. A total of 786 patients underwent 948 elective hand procedures in a hospital procedure room.

Venous disease progression in western Europe (VENPRO): A prospective cohort study.

A prospective cohort study aimed to determine factors which influence the progression of chronic venous disease (CVD) in an attempt to aid in the early identification of those at patients who are likely to benefit from early intervention. A prospective cohort study of patients referred to tertiary vascular services with varicose veins over 7 years was conducted. The primary outcome measure was the rate of disease progression from time of referral to time of consultation.

Dissolved Barium Causes Toxicity to Groundwater Cyclopoida.

Barium (Ba) dissolution and mobilization in groundwater are predominantly controlled by sulfate because of the low solubility of barium sulfate (BaSO) minerals. Naturally present at low concentrations in groundwater, elevated concentrations of Ba can occur as a result of anthropogenic activities, including use of barite in drill operations, and geogenic sources such as leaching from geological formations. No toxicity data exist for Ba with groundwater organisms (stygofauna) to assess the risk of elevated Ba concentrations.

Giant parathyroid lipoadenoma case report: A parathyroid phenomenon.

Introduction: Parathyroid lipoadenomas are a rare parathyroid phenomenon and an unusual cause of primary hyperparathyroidism. A difficult diagnosis to make, there are less than 100 cases in the literature since they were first described in 1958, and to our knowledge this is the largest parathyroid lipoadenoma to be reported.

Presentation Of Case: A minimally-invasive parathyroidectomy with intraoperative parathyroid hormone monitoring was performed in the case of a male with a large neck mass and symptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism.

Exercise and endometriosis-is there a promising future? A narrative review.

Background: Endometriosis is the leading cause of chronic pelvic pain in women of reproductive age with debilitating effects on quality of life, yet no cure exists. Exercise yields the potential in providing women with a non-invasive, non-pharmacological method of symptom control.

Aim(s): Present up-to-date knowledge regarding how exercise may contribute to the management of endometriosis-related symptoms.
