The most common subtype of breast cancer is hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer, accounting for 65-70% of all breast cancer cases diagnosed in the United States. Until 2015, single-agent endocrine therapy (ET) was the recommended first-line treatment for metastatic HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. However, the paradigm has since shifted, as targeted therapy is now recommended in combination with ET.

Transitioning an In-Person Survey of Older Adults to Multi-Mode Data Collection.

Objectives: The first three rounds of the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP) were in-person. Preparing for Round Four (R4), NSHAP began developing ways to collect complex questionnaire and biomeasure data remotely. R4 was scheduled to begin in 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, NSHAP delayed R4 data collection and instead conducted a study on respondents' experiences during the pandemic, as well as pretests to strengthen NSHAP's remote data collection capability.

Wearable Multi-Sensor Positioning Prototype for Rowing Technique Evaluation.

The goal of this study is to determine the feasibility of a wearable multi-sensor positioning prototype to be used as a training tool to evaluate rowing technique and to determine the positioning accuracy using multiple mathematical models and estimation methods. The wearable device consists of an inertial measurement unit (IMU), an ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver, and a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver. An experiment on a rowing shell was conducted to evaluate the performance of the system on a rower's wrist, against a centimeter-level GNSS reference trajectory.

The efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy for mental health and quality of life among individuals diagnosed with cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: It has long been documented that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has positive impacts on improving mental health (MH) and quality of life (QoL) in the general population, but investigations on its effect on cancer survivors remain limited, especially for QoL outcomes. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to investigate the effects of CBT as compared to control on cancer patients' MH and QoL outcomes. Control is defined in this study as standard therapy, waitlist control, and active/alternative therapy.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a common, severe genetic blood disorder. Current pharmacotherapies are partially effective and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is associated with immune toxicities. Genome editing of patient hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) to reactivate fetal hemoglobin (HbF) in erythroid progeny offers an alternative potentially curative approach to treat SCD.
