Background: Botswana has made significant investments in its health care information infrastructure, including vertical programs for child health and nutrition, HIV care, and tuberculosis. However, effectively integrating the more than 18 systems in place for data collection and reporting has proved to be challenging. The Botswana Health Data Collaborative Roadmap Strategy (2020-24) states that "there exists parallel reporting systems and data is not integrated into the mainstream reports at the national level," seconded by the Botswana National eLearning strategy (2020), which states that "there is inadequate information flow at all levels, proliferation of systems, reporting tools are not synthesized; hence too many systems are not communicating.

Detection and quantification of antibiotic residues in goat milk in Mahikeng Local Municipality.

Goat milk could be used to reduce malnutrition since it is highly nutritious, and many people in rural communities in South Africa rear small ruminants for survival. However, the risk of food contamination by antibiotic residues is one of the significant problems facing public health, and is a result of the irresponsible use of veterinary drugs. One hundred goat farmers were interviewed using a questionnaire, and raw milk samples from 266 goats were collected and analysed for the presence of antibiotic residues.

Steady-state pharmacokinetics of lamivudine in end-stage kidney failure persons with detectable and undetectable HIV-1 RNA in peritoneal dialysis effluent.

Background: Renally adjusted lamivudine dosages are effective. However, some of the kidney failure patients managed with lamivudine-containing regimens are failing to suppress HIV in peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) effluent. The steady-state lamivudine pharmacokinetics among these patients was evaluated.

HIV drug resistance mutations (HIVDRMs) are important determinants of therapeutic effects and outcomes even in end-stage kidney failure (ESKF) people living with HIV (PLWHIV). This study evaluated the prevalence of HIVDRMs and their effect on the shedding of HIV-1 into peritoneal dialysis (PD) effluents. This cross-sectional study of PLWHIV and having ESKF and managed with antiretroviral therapy (ART) and PD, collected enrolled patients' demographic information, clinical and laboratory data, and sequenced HIV-1 RNA in unsuppressed plasma and PD effluent samples.
