Clinical application and prognostic value of computed tomography examination in foals diagnosed with osteomyelitis: Forty-four cases.

Computed tomography (CT) is increasingly recognized as superior to conventional imaging methods for diagnosing osteomyelitis in foals. However, comprehensive studies in this area are limited. This study aims to report on clinical cases of osteomyelitis in foals, establishing a relationship between CT findings and survival outcomes.

Ramming the parasites: Evaluation of quarantine procedures against Haemonchus contortus at sheep markets in Sweden.

In Sweden, it is recommended to treat rams at sheep markets with ivermectin and then keep them in quarantine to minimise the risk of transmission of Haemonchus contortus between farms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of this practise. Accordingly the gastrointestinal parasite status of 50 rams purchased at two sheep markets in central Sweden in autumn 2019 was investigated using faecal samples collected on the day of sale (test 1), 12 ± 3 days after ivermectin injection (test 2, in quarantine) and a few months later before inclusion in the new flocks (test 3).

Responders to first-line osteoarthritis treatment had reduced frequency of hip and knee joint replacements within 5 years: an observational register-based study of 44,311 patients.

Background And Purpose: First-line treatment (education, exercise) for patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA) aims to reduce pain and improve function. We aimed to compare progression to joint replacement within 5 years between responders and non-responders to first-line treatment for hip and knee OA, respectively.

Methods: This observational study included data for 30,524 knee OA and 13,787 hip OA patients from the Swedish Osteoarthritis Register, linked with the Swedish Arthroplasty Register, Statistics Sweden, and the Swedish Prescribed Drug Register.

The effect of systemic acetazolamide administration on intraocular pressure in healthy horses-A preliminary study.

Objectives: In equine glaucoma, topical treatment with carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (CAIs) is recommended. Oral acetazolamide, a systemic CAI, is used in horses with hyperkalemic periodic paralysis. Information regarding its effect on equine intraocular pressure (IOP) is scarce.

Is science to be trusted? How environmentally active youths relate to science in social media.

Research has shown a great distrust among youths toward political representatives, who they demand should "listen to the science." However, less research has been done on youths' own trust in science. This study explores and explains how youths who are environmentally active in two different environmental youth organizations relate to science in social media, whether they trust science, and how youths' relation to science creates a discursive context in which they may develop their identity.
