Efficacy of feeding spray-dried porcine plasma to turkeys during brooding on performance to market age.

The effect of feeding spray dried porcine plasma (SDPP) to male turkeys during the first 4 weeks of life was evaluated at 20 weeks of age. A total of 648 male Hybrid Converter day-old turkeys were divided into two groups of 9 replicate pens of 36 birds each, and fed a commercial-type program of 7 diet phases. In phase 1 birds were fed a corn-soybean meal Control diet for 4 weeks, or a diet with 2% SDPP of similar nutrient density.

Interaction Between Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors and Cannabidiol in the Gut of Chickens Applied to Different Challenge Conditions.

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are important targets for cannabidiol (CBD), which mediate many of its biological actions. The hypothesis of the present research assumed that PPARs affect the gut response to different challenge factors in chickens ( vs. lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from ), and that CBD can mediate the pathways of this response.

The influence of musical experience on laparoscopic surgical skill performance: an original investigation and literature review.

Background: As the needs and curricula of surgical residencies evolve, recent studies have focused on identifying factors that may be related to faster and more efficient surgical skill acquisition, such as experience with playing video games, sports, and other dexterous activities. The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between instrumental musical experience and laparoscopic surgical skill performance as well as to provide an overview of the available literature on this topic.

Methods: A query from database inception to January 2023 of the PubMed database for literature discussing the association of musical experience and surgical skills was conducted.

Efficacy and Growth Performance between Two Different Ionophore Coccidiostats (Narasin and Salinomycin) in Broiler Chickens after Challenge with spp.

The objective of this study was primarily to assess the different performance impacts of two ionophore coccidiostats (narasin and salinomycin) used to manage coccidiosis. While both products may be efficacious in controlling disease challenges, previous literature has suggested that some ionophores are less well tolerated by the broiler chickens. In this study, we were particularly interested to know how the use of different coccidiostat programs translates into broiler health and performance, as measured by zootechnical parameters such as the feed conversion ratio, average daily gain, and final body weight.

Does needle gauge affect complication rates of computed tomography-guided lung biopsy?

Background: It has been thought a larger bore biopsy needle may yield a better sample for molecular testing, but this could potentially expose the patient to higher pneumothorax rates. This study aims to determine if a larger bore biopsy system results in more complications.

Methods: A total of 193 patients who underwent computed tomography (CT)-guided lung biopsy in a single tertiary center from 2013-2021 were evaluated retrospectively.
