Immature Granulocyte Percentage as an Early Predictor of Necrosis in Volvulus.

Aim: Volvulus is a disease characterized by the abnormal twisting of a gaseous distension of the loop of the intestine around itself. Colonic volvulus is the third common cause of colonic obstruction. The study aimed to determine whether the percentage of immature granulocytes is a marker of early necrosis in the volvulus.

Prognostic Effect of Preoperative Inflammatory Markers on Morbidity and Overall Survival in Pancreatic Adenocarsinoma.

Background/aim: His study aimed to evaluate the availability of common diagnostic tests and biochemical markers in predicting poor prognosis in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAC). The primary outcome measure was to identify predictive prognostic factors. The secondary outcome measure was to compare predictive measures in patients who survived or did not survive in the follow-up period.

Incidental presentation of appendix neuroendocrine tumor: Long-term results from a single institution.

Background: Appendix neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are the most common tumors of the appendix and are most often diagnosed incidentally. The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate appendix NETs diagnosed incidentally in our clinic.

Methods: Of 8304 patients who underwent appendectomy with the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in Ankara Training and Re-search Hospital, General Surgery Clinic between January 2009 and January 2022, 33 had histopathology results evaluated as appendix NET, and a retrospective analysis was made of these cases.

Haematological inflammatory markers for indicating ischemic bowel in patients with incarcerated abdominal wall hernias.

Purpose: To reveal the clinical significance of preoperative haematological inflammatory markers in the diagnosis of abdominal wall hernias with strangulation.

Methods: The data of 200 patients who underwent surgery for incarcerated hernia were retrospectively analysed. The patients were grouped into three groups; Group 1; only surgical reduction and hernia repair, Group 2; small bowel resection and Group 3; omentum resection.

Impact of Muscle Mass Depletion on Surgical Outcomes in Patients with Primary High-grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Undergoing CRS and HIPEC.

Objective: To investigate the effect of sarcopenia on surgical outcomes in patients with primary high-grade serous ovarian cancer undergoing cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS and HIPEC).
