Alveolar soft part sarcoma of the tongue in a 3-year-old boy: a case report.

Introduction: Alveolar soft tissue sarcoma of the tongue is a very rare and aggressive tumor which occurs in infancy with a relatively controversial histogenesis. It may mimic benign vascular neoplasms and may metastasize to the lungs, brain or bones.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a three-year-old Caucasian boy who was admitted to our department with a history of dysphagia and two episodes of oral bleeding which had lasted for a period of six months.

Our experience in open rhinoplasty.

Aim: The last decade the external approach has gained enormous popularity in rhinoplastic surgery and it is a relatively new technique in Greece for the correction of functional and aesthetic problems of the nose. We introduce our experience in open rhinoplasty, we describe the operative technique, its advantages.

Material-methods: In a period of two years (2003-2005), 98 patients underwent open rhinoplasty in our department.

Decannulation in children after long-term tracheostomy.

Various approaches and techniques are used in discontinuing tracheostomy in children. The variability in the use of resources is considerable. The objective of the study was to assess decannulation in children attending our ENT department.

Long term results following nasal septal surgery. Focus on patients' satisfaction.

Objective: The patient selection for septoplasty usually relies on clinical judgement alone. It is not clear, if surgeons' selection criteria are able to accurately anticipate patients' long term satisfaction as only a few studies exist on the outcome of nasal septal surgery. In this study, we analyze patients' long term satisfaction following septoplasty based on their subjective opinion.
