Background: In an oval-shaped canal, no single instrumentation systems were effective in absolute removing obturation.
Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the performance of ProTaper Universal Retreatment (PTUR) system, XP-endo Shaper (XPS), XP-endo Finisher (XPF), and XP-endo Finisher-R (XPF-R) in removing root-canal filling material and preservation of sound dentin during retreatment procedure.
Methodology: Root-canal preparation was performed on 60 mandibular premolars with oval-shaped canals using the ProTaper Gold file system.
Background: Catalytic iron (CI) mediates vascular injury by generating reactive oxygen species. We evaluated role of CI in predicting mortality in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and studied association of contrast nephropathy with CI levels.
Methods: We investigated 806 patients with ACS undergoing contrast exposure for a cardiac procedure who were followed up for 30 days.
Human leucocyte antigen (HLA) -G is expressed on trophoblast cells during pregnancy, suggesting a role in protection of the semiallogeneic fetus. Published data suggest that HLA-G protects a cell against natural killer cell lysis. It has been hypothesized that HLA-G may also protect the fetus by preventing allo-cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe human placenta expresses HLA-G, a nonclassical (class Ib) MHC molecule that could play a central role in maternal tolerance of the semiallogeneic fetus. In this work, we report the production of a new mAb, 4H84, that specifically reacts with HLA-G in two formats: immunocytochemistry and immunoblotting. Immunolocalization experiments with 4H84 confirmed our previous finding that cytotrophoblasts within the uterine wall are the only cells in tissue sections of placenta that express the HLA-G protein.
