Background: Symptomatic cerebral vasospasm following posterior fossa intra-axial tumor resection is a rare phenomenon with only seven cases previously reported in the literature. The condition appears distinct to vasospasm following supratentorial tumor resection and extra-axial tumor resection of the posterior fossa. It shares, however, similarities with vasospasm following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

We set out to investigate the concordance rates that were observed between fine needle aspiration cytology (FNA) compared with that of the post operative histology obtained for thyroid nodules over an 8 year period at a large university hospital.A retrospective analysis of 355 cases was conducted; patients operated for hyperthyroidism were excluded for the purposes of this study. We identified malignancy in a total of 101 cases (28%) The chance of malignancy with 2 Thy1 specimens was 5% in this study and 9% was observed in those with a Thy 2 FNA.

Osteopetrosis is a rare congenital disorder of bone resorption, caused by failure of osteoclasts to reabsorb immature bone. Malignant infantile osteopetrosis presents in early life with generalized osteosclerosis and decreased bone marrow spaces, resulting in anemia, splenohepatomegaly due to extramedullary hematopoiesis, cranial nerve compression, and growth failure. It is a fatal condition with death occurring within the first year of life.
