[The effect of pyrazidol on the catalytic properties of monoamine oxidases in pressure-chamber hypoxia in rats].

Effects of pyrasidol (1,10-trimethylen-8-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrasino(1,2-a) indol hydrochloride)--a selective reversible inhibitor of monoaminoxidase (MAO)--on substrate specificity of MAO fragments of mitochondrial membranes of the rat liver in altitude chamber hypoxia were studied. It is shown that pyrasidol during hypoxic exposure causes a sharp initial decrease of functional activity of type A MAO in the rat liver and its subsequent significant increase, i.e.

[Catalytic properties of monoamine oxidases during adaptation to altitude chamber hypoxia].

The effect of different exposures to altitude chamber hypoxia (1, 5 or 21 days) upon the catalytic properties of monoaminoxidases (MAO) of fragments of mitochondrial membranes of the Wistar rat liver, which are key enzymes in the metabolism of biogenic amines, was investigated. The MAO activity of A and B types decreased on day 5 and increased on day 21 of exposure. In addition, hypoxia modified catalytic properties of MAO which allowed the enzyme to produce oxidative deamination of nitrogen compounds that do not serve as its substrates under normal conditions.

[Defect in deamination of biogenic amines in spontaneous hypertension].

Activity of monoamine oxidases (MAO) of the types A and B (substrates: 5-hydroxytryptamine, 2-phenylethylamine, tyramine) has been studied in mitochondrial fractions from brain, heart, liver and kidney of 24-week-old rats of the normotonic strain Wistar Kyoto (WKY) and spontaneously hypertonic rats (SHR). As compared with the WKY rats, in the SHR strain the activity of MAO-A in heart mitochondria was increased 1.5-1.

Prevalence and clinical peculiarities of essential hypertension in a population living at high altitude.

Screening examinations were performed in ethnically related populations of men aged 30-59 years, living in high mountain regions of Tien-Shan and Pamir (2800-3600 m above sea level) and in the lowlands (800-900 m). The incidence of borderline hypertension (BH) and essential hypertension (EH) was statistically significantly higher among the inhabitants of lowland regions: EH was recorded among them in 15.4%, vs.
