Background: As the population ages, the number of octogenarians with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) continues to rise. Morbidity and mortality following pancreatectomy have improved owing to safer surgery and better chemoradiation regimens. This study compares the outcomes and multimodality utilization in octogenarians (≥80 years) who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for PDAC, with a younger cohort.

Background: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) occur when neutrophil chromatin is decondensed and extruded into the extracellular space in a web-like structure. Originally described as an anti-microbial function, this process has been implicated in the pathogenesis of pancreatic disease. In addition, NETs are upregulated during physiologic wound-healing and coagulation.

The Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) accounts for ∼9% of global freshwater finfish production however, extreme cold weather and decreasing freshwater resources has created the need to develop resilient strains. By determining the genetic bases of aquaculture relevant traits, we can genotype and breed desirable traits into farmed strains. We generated ATAC-seq and gene expression data from O.

Fire history within the northern larch forests of Central Siberia was studied (65+°N). Fires within this area are predominantly caused by lightning strikes rather than human activity. Mean fire return intervals (FRI) were found to be 112 ± 49 years (based on fire scars) and 106 ± 36 years (based on fire scars and tree natality dates).
