UK national observational cohort study investigating Tolerance of Anti-cancer Systemic Therapy in the Elderly: the TOASTIE study.

Objective: The Cancer and Aging Research Group (CARG) score was developed to predict severe chemotherapy-induced toxicity risk in older adults; validation study results have varied. The Tolerance of Anti-cancer Systemic Therapy in the Elderly study sought to evaluate the CARG score prospectively in a chemotherapy-naïve UK population.

Methods And Analysis: This multicentre, prospective, observational study recruited patients aged ≥65 years commencing first-line chemotherapy for any solid organ malignancy or setting.

A comprehensive evaluation of histopathology foundation models for ovarian cancer subtype classification.

Histopathology foundation models show great promise across many tasks, but analyses have been limited by arbitrary hyperparameters. We report the most rigorous single-task validation study to date, specifically in the context of ovarian carcinoma morphological subtyping. Attention-based multiple instance learning classifiers were compared using three ImageNet-pretrained encoders and fourteen foundation models, each trained with 1864 whole slide images and validated through hold-out testing and two external validations (the Transcanadian Study and OCEAN Challenge).

Quality of life, healthcare usage and finances of UK cancer survivors five years post-diagnosis: a matched controlled study.

Purpose: Assessing the long-term impact of cancer on people's lives is challenging due to confounding issues such as aging and comorbidities. We aimed to investigate this impact by comparing the outcomes of cancer survivors with a matched control cohort.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey of breast, colorectal and ovarian cancer survivors approximately 5 years post-diagnosis and a cohort of age, sex and social deprivation-matched controls who had never had a cancer diagnosis.

Predictors of treatment outcome in higher levels of care among a large sample of adolescents with heterogeneous eating disorders.

Background: Despite widespread use of higher levels of care in treating eating disorders in adolescents, research supporting the use of these treatments remains limited by small sample sizes and a predominant focus on anorexia nervosa. Further, existing data regarding predictors of outcome have yielded mixed findings. In the current study, we evaluated treatment outcomes and predictors of outcome among a large sample of adolescents with eating disorders presenting to inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization programs, and intensive outpatient programs across the United States.

BMScope: A scoping review to chart the evolving clinical study landscape in brain and leptomeningeal metastasis.

Background: Recent studies have challenged the notion that patients with brain metastasis (BM) or leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) should be excluded from systemic therapy clinical trials. This scoping study summarizes the BM/LM clinical studies published between 2010 and 2023.

Methods: MEDLINE, CINAHL, CAB Abstracts, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, HINARI, International Pharmaceutical Abstracts, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and EMBASE electronic databases were searched on June 21, 2021.
