Adriamycin is an anthracycline antibiotic used as anticancer drug since past few decades. Though effective against cancer, it is cardiotoxic, nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic and also toxic for reproductive system. Although a number of potential toxic mechanisms have been identified following exposure to adriamycin, the major pathogenic mechanism appears to be the generation of toxic reactive oxygen species (ROS).

However, there are conflicting reports about the success rates with OEC.
Aim: This study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic effect of OEC in rat models using different cell dosages.
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) species isolated from limed and delimed tannery fleshings (TF) were evaluated for their fermentation efficiency and antibacterial property. The native LAB isolates efficiently fermented TF and resulted in a fermented mass with antioxidant properties, indicating their potential for effective eco-friendly bioconversion of TF. From among the LAB isolated, a proteolytic isolate showing better antimicrobial spectrum and reasonably good fermentation efficiency was identified as Enterococcus faecium HAB01 based on various biochemical and molecular tests.

The anti-cancer drug cyclophosphamide (CYP) is nephrotoxic besides being urotoxic thereby limiting its clinical utility. Since the nephrotoxicity of CYP is less common compared to its urotoxicity, not much importance has been given for the study of mechanism of CYP-induced nephrotoxicity. The aim of the present study is to investigate the possible role of lysosomal enzymes in CYP-induced renal damage.
