Background: Inhalation exposure is the gold standard when assessing pulmonary toxicity. However, it typically requires substantial amounts of test material. Intratracheal instillation is an alternative administration technique, where the test substance is suspended in a liquid vehicle and deposited into the lung via the trachea.

Occupational psychosocial stressors and ergonomic strain during pregnancy and sex-specific risk of childhood asthma.

Objectives: Previous studies have indicated that maternal occupational psychosocial stressors may affect the risk of asthma in the offspring, but their results are inconsistent. Maternal occupational ergonomic strain is associated with predictors of fetal lung development, including preterm birth and low birthweight; however, it is not known, whether ergonomic strain during pregnancy is a risk factor for asthma in offspring. The aim was to investigate maternal psychosocial stressors and ergonomic strain during pregnancy relative to the risk of offspring asthma.

Lower chlorinated PCBs accumulate in demolition workers while working on a contaminated worksite.

Several buildings in a Danish social housing estate exceeded indoor air guidance values for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), leading to their demolition. Here, we conducted a biomonitoring study among the workers on-site (n = 24) to evaluate their exposure to all 209 PCBs across the two-year demolition. We compared their PCB serum concentrations and accumulation to those of demolition workers at other worksites (n = 21) and office workers (n = 17).

Maternal coffee consumption and biomarkers of reproductive health in young, adult sons: a cohort study.

It has been proposed that poor semen quality may have its origins from fetal programming due to environmental factors. We investigated whether maternal coffee consumption during early pregnancy was associated with biomarkers of reproductive health in adult sons in the Fetal Programming of Semen Quality (FEPOS) cohort. In 2017-2019, 1058 young men provided a semen and blood sample and self-measured their testis volume.
