Melanomas, which develop on malignant transformations of melanocytes, are highly malignant and prone to metastasis; therefore, effective drugs are required. The (MC) extract has been shown to suppress cancer cell proliferation and invasion; however, the effect of the MC extract on melanoma in living organisms remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the mechanism underlying the amelioration of melanoma cell extravasation into mouse lungs by the MC extract.

Spherical biosamples such as immunobeads, cells, and cell aggregates have been widely used in bioapplications. The bioactivity of individual spherical biosamples in highly sensitive assays and individual analyses must be evaluated in a high-throughput manner. Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) imaging was recently proposed for the high-throughput analysis of diffusive molecules from spherical biosamples.

Understanding the interactions between lipid membranes and peptides is crucial for controlling bacterial and viral infections, and developing effective drugs. In this study, we proposed the use of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) microscopy in a solution of [Ru(bpy)] and tri--propylamine to monitor alterations in the lipid membranes due to peptide action. A planar artificial lipid membrane served as a model platform, and its surface was observed using ECL microscopy during exposure to melittin, a representative membrane lytic peptide.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how effective dapagliflozin, an SGLT-2 inhibitor, is in improving kidney function for patients with rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
  • A retrospective analysis of 43 patients showed a significant improvement in their estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) after more than a year of dapagliflozin treatment.
  • Factors linked to a better response include lower inflammation (indicated by C-reactive protein levels), increased use of angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), and less use of tacrolimus.

Objective: There is a pressing need to understand the pathogenesis of histologic findings and identify the biomarkers for predicting the histologic severity in lupus nephritis (LN). This study aimed to identify the pathogenic signal pathway and elucidate urinary biomarkers for predicting the presence or severity of histologic findings in LN.

Methods: Urine samples from patients with biopsy-proven active LN were screened for 1,305 proteins using an aptamer-based proteomic assay.
