Purpose: Almost nine of 10 deaths resulting from cervical cancer occur in low-income countries. Visual inspection under acetic acid (VIA) is an evidence-based, cost-effective approach to cervical cancer screening (CCS), but challenges to effective implementation include health provider training costs, provider turnover, and skills retention. We hypothesized that a smartphone camera and use of cervical image transfer for real-time mentorship by experts located distantly across a closed user group through a commercially available smartphone application would be both feasible and effective in enhancing VIA skills among CCS providers in Tanzania.

Objective: We studied the feasibility of automated radiogrammetry in assessing bone quality in this specific group of children. We measured outcome of bone quality and, because these children tend to have altered skeletal maturation, we also studied bone age.
Nurse scheduling consists of assigning shifts and rest to nurses for each day, on a time schedule, taking in account legal and collective constraints, and individual wishes. The Nurse Scheduling Problem (NSP) is a highly difficult and complicated problem that has already be explored using several operational research methods. Nevertheless, those methods are not flexible enough to match the individual requests from nursing staff and they don't allow for effective management of unforeseen absences.
