The mechanisms controlling the aggressiveness and survival of cervical SCC cells remain unclear. We investigated how the physical and biological microenvironments regulate the growth, apoptosis and invasiveness of cervical cancer cells. Dynamic flow and air exposure were evaluated as physical microenvironmental factors, and stromal fibroblasts were evaluated as a biological microenvironmental factor.

Background: Uterine cervical cancer is the fourth most common female cancer in the world. In Japan, we have an apparently low rate of joining cervical cancer screening programs compared with Western countries. Furthermore, the incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer among the younger generation has been increasing.

We present an observation of beat oscillation generation by coupled modes associated with parametric decay instability (PDI) during radio frequency (rf) wave heating experiments on the Tokyo Spherical Tokamak-2. Nearly identical PDI spectra, which are characterized by the coexistence of the rf pump wave, the lower-sideband wave, and the low-frequency oscillation in the ion-cyclotron range of frequency, are observed at various locations in the edge plasma. A bispectral power analysis was used to experimentally discriminate beat oscillation from the resonant mode for the first time.

Limitations in the long-term results of medical treatment for mitral regurgitation are well recognized, but the advances in its surgical repair have produced good results. Therefore, early surgical intervention has been the focus of treatment in Europe and America. Increased surgical intervention depends on the development of technical skills in mitral reconstruction.

The transradial approach has currently been accepted as an alternative entry method for coronary angiography and angioplasty. Vascular complications of this method were evaluated by 2-dimensional echo and color Doppler ultrasonic studies in 162 patients before, early (2+/-2 [mean+/-SD] days), and late (95+/-29 days) after catheterization. Mean age was 64+/-10 years, and 103 were men.
