Monitoring volatile organic compounds is critical to mitigate the risks they pose to human health and the environment. Developing technologies for detection of VOCs requires methods to produce the desired concentrations for benchmarking. Herein, we present a simple, inexpensive, and flexible platform capable of producing user-specified concentrations of a gas-phase analyte for the purpose of fine-tuning and benchmarking VOC detection technologies.

Purpose: Drug intake might be a modifiable factor for the individual fall-risk of older adults, and anticholinergic properties of drugs need to be considered. This study is aimed at analyzing the association of older adults' individual anticholinergic load with particular focus on use of overactive bladder anticholinergic medications with falls in multi-medicated patients.

Materials And Methods: Cases of the prospective, observational, multi-center study on adverse drug reactions leading to emergency departments (ADRED study) between 2015 and 2018 in Germany were analyzed comparing the exposure of overactive bladder anticholinergic medications on the chance to present with a fall with patients without exposure.

Little is known of the usual food intakes of rural adolescents in South Asia. This study describes dietary patterns, based on >91,000 7-day food frequencies among 30,702 girls and boys, aged 9-15 years in rural northwest Bangladesh. Three intake assessments per child, taken across a calendar year, were averaged to represent individual annual intake patterns for 22 food groups.

Carotene cleavage is the necessary initial step in the biosynthesis of trisporic acid, the sexual signal in zygomycete fungi. Two genes encoding putative carotene oxygenases, designated tsp3 and tsp4, were identified in the genome of the zygomycete Rhizopus oryzae. Using heterologous primers, tsp3 was cloned and sequenced also from Blakeslea trispora.
