Enhancing oncolytic virotherapy by extracellular vesicle mediated microRNA reprograming of the tumour microenvironment.

Background: There has been limited success of cancer immunotherapies in the treatment of ovarian cancer (OvCa) to date, largely due to the immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment (TME). Tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs) are a major component of both the primary tumour and malignant ascites, promoting tumour growth, angiogenesis, metastasis, chemotherapy resistance and immunosuppression. Differential microRNA (miRNA) profiles have been implicated in the plasticity of TAMs.

"Martin Mattress": Surgical Technique for Achieving Hemostasis in Redo Aortic Root Operations.

A 71-year-old gentleman with prior bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement was admitted with aortic valve dehiscence and an aortic root abscess. He underwent reoperative sternotomy, aortic root, mitral valve, and hemiarch replacement. To augment hemostasis, we implanted the "Martin Mattress"-a pericardial patch sutured to the fibrous ridge within the innominate vein, superior vena cava, right atrium, right ventricular outflow tract, and pulmonary artery-which is preferred to modified Cabrol fistula techniques in infectious root pathology.

"Covering For Our City Blight": Kudzu and Public Health in Atlanta, 1979-1994.

Kudzu, a perennial climbing vine and invasive species to the American South, occupied a unique space in the city of Atlanta, Georgia as a danger to public health from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. This article examines why municipal authorities understood the vine as a threat to public health. Kudzu's ability to smother surfaces allowed it to conceal murdered people and serve as a habitat for rats, snakes, and mosquitos, making it a direct threat to public safety in the eyes of public health authorities.

Cardiometabolic Health in Children with Pre-existing Dyslipidemia: Trends and Disparities.

In order to evaluate the impact of a child's proximity to an urban center on their cardiometabolic health status and their response to treatment of cardiometabolic risk factors, retrospective review of the institutional pediatric lipid clinic database was conducted for all subjects receiving care from 1/1/2011 to 12/31/2023, with subgroup analysis of subjects with ≥ 2 clinical encounters and/or set of laboratory values. Subjects were classified as rural/urban and advantaged/middle/underserved based on their zip code using the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality classification system. Multivariate linear regression was used to examine disparities in baseline cardiometabolic health parameters by urban/rural groupings.

Influences of speaking task demands on sensorimotor oscillations in adults who stutter: Implications for speech motor control.

Objective: Motivated by previous inconsistent findings, this study aims to improve understanding of sensorimotor beta (β; 15-30 Hz) and alpha (α; 8-14 Hz) speech-related power differences between stuttering and non-stuttering adults.

Methods: Electroencephalography was recorded as adults who stutter (AWS) and matched fluent controls answered questions in Quiet and Informational Masked backgrounds. Bilateral sensorimotor β and α power during speech planning and execution were measured from mu (μ) rhythm components.
