Macroscopic coherence in quantum fluids allows the observation of interference effects in their wavefunctions, and enables applications such as superconducting quantum interference devices based on Josephson tunneling. The Josephson effect manifests in both fermionic and bosonic systems, and has been well studied in superfluid helium and atomic Bose-Einstein condensates. In exciton-polariton condensates-that offer a path to integrated semiconductor platforms-creating weak links in ring geometries has so far remained challenging.

Urbanization impacts the structure and viability of wildlife populations. Some habitat generalists, such as bobcats (Lynx rufus), maintain populations at the intersection of wild and urban habitats (wildland urban interface, WUI), but impacts of urbanization on bobcat social structure are not well understood. Background: The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a classification system that describes the injury pattern of pediatric medial humeral condyle fractures and provide treatment guidelines.

Methods: Patients less than 18 years old with medial humeral condyle fractures from 2012 to 2022 were identified. A classification system was developed based on fracture pattern and putative mechanism of injury.

In non-Hermitian open quantum systems, such as polariton condensates, the local tailoring of gains and losses opens up an interesting possibility to realize functional optical elements. Here, we demonstrate that deliberately introducing losses via a photonic defect, realized by reducing the quality factor of a DBR mirror locally within an ultrahigh-quality microcavity, may be utilized to create directed polariton currents towards the defect. We discuss the role of polariton-polariton interactions in the process and how to tailor the effective decay time of a polariton condensate by coupling it to the defect.
