A 47-year-old man presented with a superior hypophyseal artery aneurysm and an ipsilateral posterior communicating artery aneurysm. Both lesions were successfully clipped without removal of the anterior clinoid process or retraction of the optic nerve by using endoscopic guidance. The endoscope was introduced into the prechiasmatic cistern and provided a clear visual field around the aneurysm that could not be seen via the operating microscope.

Spinal epidural hematoma is a rare clinical entity, and the literature provides reports of 29 cases so far in Japan. A case of spinal epidural hematoma associated with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura diagnosed by CT scan and MRI is reported in detail with references to the literature. A 56-year-old female was admitted to our hospital on April 22, 1990, because of sudden onset of nuchal pain and right hemiparesis.

The relationship between changes in Ca2+-adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) activity and plasma membrane damage was histochemically studied by enzymatic electron microscopy in rat brains with and without superoxide treatment. The brains were obtained from male Wistar rats after decapitation, and the control brains were examined immediately. Brains not treated with superoxide were incubated at 20 degrees C for 3, 6, or 12 hours.
