The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic alerted the potential for significant harm due to future cross-species transmission of various animal coronaviruses to human. There is a significant need of antibody-based drugs to treat patients infected with previously unseen coronaviruses. In this study, we generated CV804, an antibody that binds to the S2 domain of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which is highly conserved across the coronavirus family and less susceptible to mutations.

In this study, we aimed to clarify the effects of breakfast intervention on autonomic nerve function in healthcare workers who skip breakfast. This cross-sectional, interventional study was conducted between January 2020 and December 2021. All participants were full-time healthcare workers who completed a self-administered questionnaire on fatigue and subjective symptoms and underwent noninvasive autonomic nerve function tests.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remain a major global health challenge, with aerosol transmission being the primary route of spread. The use of antivirals as medical countermeasures to control SARS-CoV-2 transmission and spread is promising but remains to be clarified. The current study established and used an in vivo hamster aerosol transmission model system to evaluate the efficacy of the protease inhibitor ensitrelvir to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

The electroconvection of liquid crystals is a typical example of a dissipative structure generated by complicated interactions between three factors: convective flow, structural deformation, and the migration of charge carriers. In this study, we found that the periodic structural deformation of a cholesteric liquid crystal propagates in space, like a wave, under an alternating-current electric field. The existence of convection and charge carriers was confirmed by flow-field measurements and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy.
