Introduction: Stallion castration is a standard procedure with a risk of post-surgical complications. Castration induces an acute phase response (APR). Serum Amyloid-A (SAA) is a well-studied major acute phase protein (APP), that has been shown to be a good marker for the development of post-surgical complications.

The PanTum Detect blood test detects the biomarkers Apo10/DNaseX and Transketolase-like 1 (TKTL1) in circulating macrophage-like cells from peripheral blood samples to identify asymptomatic individuals with a high risk for malignancy. The elevated blood test values initiated an F-FDG PET/CT visualization for further clarification.

Aim: In this study, we evaluated whether the onset of puberty can be suppressed by implantation of a slow-release GnRH implant (4.7 mg deslorelin) in juvenile rams.
